| Reported by Ernest I Aguilar Variety is carrying an article regarding WWE Studios and its releases featuring WWE Superstars and how they flop in theaters but then make up for that when it comes to home video sales. The idea of going straight to DVD and producing all their releases back-to-back has so far worked for John Cena's latest movie "Legendary" which produced $3.8 million in revenue for WWE Studios in three months. Considering there will barely be any money spent for the limited theatrical releases and no massive marketing campaigns, the movies are set to make a profit quicker. WWE is also looking at giving stores such as Wal-Mart some exclusives in return of in-store promotions from the participating stores. "Like with any great retailer, placement equals promotion," Jim Connelly, WWE's senior VP of consumer products, told Daily Variety. You can read the article here. |
