Monday Night Raw TV report for 12/12/2011

Reported by Ernest I Aguilar

I'm back after a crazy last week at work (hence no Raw Report), and while it may have been at my job, it really wasn't crazy in the WWE. To sum up last week's show - meh.

On to this one, the 3-hour extravaganza of the WWE Slammy Awards. Who will win "Superstar Of The Year" (my vote would go to WWE Champion C.M. Punk), and the other unmentioned wonderful (and I'm sure wacky) categories. There's one way to find out and that's reading on...

Introduction Segment: Slammy Promo

The regular Raw video & pyro is not, as a special video package and pyro/set for the awards kicks off. It is resembled (taken seriously) much like The Oscars.

Segment #2: Slammy #1 - "Tell Me I Did Not Just See That Moment Of The Year"

Booker T. & Hornswoggle (in a new afro-wig) present this first award. They plug Booker's match against Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Title at T.L.C. Sunday, and then list the nominees: Jim Ross dancing, Alberto Del Rio's Royal Rumble win (because he almost got taken out by Santino), John Cena defeated R-Truth with the help of "Little Jimmy" and The Miz mimicking The Rock's personality, attire, and moves.

Winner: Jim Ross

Jim Ross, accompanied by Eve & Alicia Fox, begins to accept the trophy before Michael Cole cuts him off. Cole continues to make fun of Ross (as does Booker for Michael) and Booker then challenges Cole to face J.R. in a "rap-off." (Really?)

Cole says that winner takes the Slammy and begins to rap, badly. Good Ole J.R. raps too, also badly and finishes off by telling Cole to "kiss my ass."

Winner and still Slammy champion - according to Booker T. and the crowd, Good Ole J.R.

Booker then asks the crowd if they want to see a "J-R-Rooni." Booker does his first, then Ross - to not really much of an avail. (This was a pointless, pointless, pointless, bad segment).

Backstage, Mick Foley is walking through and the "Hardcore Legend" is up next to present another award. (Hopefully much better.)

Segment #3: Slammy #2 - "Holy Bleep (you can guess what the 'bleep' is!) Moment Of The Year"

Mick Foley & "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase present this award. Nominees are: Sheamus' powerbomb on to Sin Cara from Money In The Bank, Randy Orton's R.K.O. on Christian to the steel steps from their World Title match at SummerSlam, Big Show and Mark Henry's "second suplex around the world" from their World Championship bout at Vengeance, and Evan Bourne's Shooting Star Press onto all wrestlers from Money In The Bank.

Winner: Big Show & Mark Henry (not a surprise)

Show comes out to accept, thanking all who are necessary and says that Mark Henry is not out due to Big Show's actions from Smackdown (read the report on Wrestling-online.com!), and then claims the next thing to add is the World Title. For now though, he is going to go to the ring and participate in our first match of the night!

Match #1: Single - Big Show VS. Wade Barrett

Prior to the match, Wade cuts a promo, proclaiming that he will both destroy Randy Orton at T.L.C. and then hunt for the World Championship if Big Show is able to win it.

Ads.

Bout is already under way with Barrett on the outside and jaw-breaks Show on the ropes to get back in. Big show counters with a shoulder-block and then follows him to the outside. Wade boots Show, who lands on the table, but before Barrett can dive off the ropes, Big gets up and smashes the table with his fists himself.

He also delivers a huge (no pun intended) right hand, sending Barrett over the top rope into the ring (impressive for two big boys!), and then receives a quick DQ win after Barrett tries to hit Show with a chair but Show counters with another right hand.

Winner via Disqualification: Big Show

Big Show celebrates and we learn that John Cena will face World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry in the main event.

Segment #4: Slammy #3 - "Pipe Bomb Of The Year"

A blast from the past is in the house, as the "D-O-Double-G" Road Dogg Jesse James returns to present this award. He manages to keep his rhymes PG.

The nominees are: Triple H's "Chaperone" movie, R-Truth screwing up a town's name, Santino showing "President Obama" The Cobra, C.M. Punk going back and forth "whats" with Stone Cold, a bunch of R-Truth clips, Booker T's commentary, Rock's most recent promo with Cena, Sheamus and the dude from The Muppets, Zack Ryder clips, John Laurinaitis messing up "WWE Universe," Teddy Long messing up longest running show, etc..., and C.M. Punk's "ice cream bars."

Winner: WWE Champion C.M. Punk (who coined the phrase "pipe bomb.")

The champ walks out with a mannequin, dressed in blond hair and what appears to be an old "Rockers" t-shirt. He also thanks the usual and then promotes a cause. This cause is for someone who works tirelessly backstage, but is boring, bland, non-descript, lacking in human characteristics, and 100% anatomically correct (referring to the dummy).

Punk plays a highlight package of his career - from Johnny Ace of the "Dynamic Dudes" tag-team, complete with cheesy 80s music and graphics. He finishes off by mimicking Johnny's voice, with the classic line of "you like me, you really really like me!" (This was actually truly funny!)

Segment #5: Slammy #4 - "Diva-licious Moment Of The Year"

The past makes another appearance as a former WWE Women's Champion and influential wrestlers in the division gives out this category. She is Lita! Huge pop for the fiery redhead and she quite happy to be back. After listing her accomplishments (too many to do so), she lists the contenders: Natalya's Double-Sharpshooter, Kelly Kelly winning the Divas Championship, Kharma's wrath through the girls, Beth Phoenix's "Glam-Slam" off the top rope from Survivor Series.

Winner: Kelly Kelly (quell surprise)

Before she can give much of an acceptance speech, Kelly Kelly is interrupted by Natalya and current WWE Divas Champion Beth Phoenix, who snatches the statue, but Kelly gets it back after a slap.

Segment #6: Slammy #5 - "O.M.G. Moment Of The Year"

Santino Marella and the Bella Twins are out to award the trophy. Santino puts over the category (but says "OMG" instead of O.M.G.), and then takes shots at the Bella Twins.

Nominees: HHH Tombstones The Undertaker from WrestleMania XXVII, Rock Bottom on Cena also at WrestleMania XXVII, Superstars walk out on Triple H during his run as C.O.O., and Punk takes the WWE Title at Money In The Bank.

Winner: Undertaker/Triple H

Instead of the "Deadman" it is "The Game" that collects the award, and Triple H is back, sledgehammer and all.

Segment #6: Arena Promo

Clear and loud chants of "Triple H" to adore him. "The Game" has the mike and declares that the real "O.M.G." moment was from after the match at W.M. XXVII, since both wrestlers (especially the Undertaker) had to be carted out, and then moves on to Kevin Nash.

He replays the assault that "Big Sexy" laid upon him, but detests that the job should've been finished. Triple H says that this Sunday is about who is right, and that is HHH himself. He will get the hammer during the Ladder Match at T.L.C. and bring it down "over, and over, and over."

"This Sunday, I will show the world that I am right, and Kevin Nash, you are simply done." (All with a close-up shot of the intensity on his face.)

Triple H stares down and scares away Santino, when he was about to get the statue, and then does his trademark pose.

Segment #7: Slammy #6 - "Trending Star Of The Year"

Presented by David Otunga and WWE Hall Of Famer Tony Atlas. Atlas laughs as David tries to give a politically correct speech, and announces the winner will be the Superstar who trends the most world-wide now, and there will be a Fatal 4-Way. Participants: Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, United States Champion Dolph Ziggler, and "Long Island Iced-Z" Zack Ryder.

Match #2: Fatal-4-Way - "Long Island Iced-Z" Zack Ryder VS. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes VS. Daniel Bryan VS. United States Champion Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero)

Heels go after the faces right away, stomping away, but Bryan tosses Cody over the top rope as does Zack to Ziggler, and they follow it up with a Suicide Dive and over=the-rope Flipping Sunset Splash, respectively. The faces have the momentum as we go to break.

Ads.

Back live, it is Ryder & Bryan left in the ring. They lock up and Zack capitalizes with a side headlock and short time later a jumping knee in the corner. Corner boot by Ryder for a 2! Daniel flips off the turnbuckle, but then runs into Ryder with a double-cross-body. Rhodes takes over and tries to sneak the quick win by covering both, but to no avail.

Ziggler re-enters and strikes a deal to pound on the faces. Things break down pretty quick after a round of "better than you" and Bryan tries to catch them off guard with a roll-up. Rhodes kicks out at two, but then trades a sunset flip and Jacknife pinning combo with Bryan. They toss out the faces again, but this time Rhodes & Ziggler go at it until another break.

Commercials.

Cody now has Zack in a Figure-4 Submission, but Zack fights out of it and counters a run-in-the-ropes with jumping knees. Dolph comes back in and viciously pounds away on Ryder. Zack reveres into a roll-up for 2, and then Daniel flies over with a Sunset Flip also for 2! A huge Triple Clothesline is delivered by all Ryder, Ziggler, & Bryan.

Springboard kick to the temple by Rhodes. He covers but Bryan breaks it up and repeatedly kicks Cody in the corner. Rhodes cuts off Bryan, crotching him on the turnbuckle and Ryder ducks a Flying Splash in the corner from Ziggler.

Ryder to the top but Ziggler stops that and both Rhodes & Ziggler crash down with Superplexes. ("this is awesome" chants ring out in the arena).

Rhodes chucks Ryder on to Dolph with a RoughRyder (have to see it) but then almost gets caught in the Labell Lock submission. That is broken up with a Sleeper from Ziggler, which is almost reversed, but the U.S. Champion gets it back with a Zig-Zag for the 3!

Winner via Pinfall: United States Champion Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero)

Post match, Lawler announces Slammy #7 for "Trending Star Of The Year. Winner is, of course, Zack Ryder. Dolph promptly lays out Ryder and steals his award, leaving with the title and the statue, along with Vickie.

Segment #8: Slammy #8 - "Game Changer Of The Year"

Christian, after he puts himself over and wonders why he is not nominated for any awards, tells us the real candidates: HHH taking over for Mr. McMahon, Edge's retirement (this should win for the genuine emotion), Kevin Nash attacking Punk at Summerslam along with Del Rio cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase to become WWE Champion, The Rock & John Cena - enough said! (which will probably win).

Winner: The Rock challenges John Cena to a match at WrestleMania XXVIII. (Told ya!). Cena enters and smirks with Christian, then is left alone to a mix of cheers and boos. He says that the credit should also go to The Rock, who he tries to bring out live and/or on satellite, but he is a no-show. Cena apologizes, but claims the real "game-changing" moment is on April 1st, 2012 at WrestleMania.

Up next, is a tag-team match with Randy Orton/C.M. Punk taking on The Miz and Alberto Del Rio

Commercials.

Match #3: Tag-Team - Alberto Del Rio & The Miz VS. Randy Orton & WWE Champion C.M. Punk

Punk & Miz start out, with C.M. faking him out with kicks and now snapmares and leg sweeps. Tag to Randy who jumps down on Miz with a high knee drop. Cover for a 1, and then a plain old suplex! Orton controls for a bit until he is caught off guard with a low kick and DDT from Miz. Del Rio comes in and takes over, dominating over Randy. Standard WWE-style match ensues, with the heels controlling most of it.

Ads.

Del Rio also wears down Punk with an armlock, but C.M. fights out of it with a rolling armdrag. Swinging neckbreaker allows Punk to try for a tag but Miz cuts him off and he and Alberto control Punk again. Corner clothesline from Miz for a two-count on Punk. Miz lines up Punk for a Skull Krushing Finale, but C.M. wiggles out.

He tries for a G.T.S. to nothing, and Miz executes a backbreaker but is swiftly kicked in the head. Punk crawls to Orton but is grabbed by Del Rio and Wade Barrett enters from the crowd to yank Orton off the apron.

C.M. dives out of a corner knee from Miz and tries again for the G.T.S, but Miz maneuvers out and plants Punk with the S.K.F. for the 1 - 2 - 3!

Winners via Pinfall: The Miz & Alberto Del Rio

Post match, Orton takes off through the crowd to find Barrett, while Del Rio & Miz celebrate over a downed Punk. They then grab a ladder and continue to assault the WWE Champion. Alberto even locks in his Cross-Armbreaker using the ladder! All the while, The Miz taunts him and tells him that his title will be done at T.L.C. in six days. "Pipe bomb, engage."

Segment #9: Kane Promo

The newest "Kane Resurrected" (with mask) video airs, but no date is given upon his arrival.

Commercials.

Segment #10: Slammy #9 - "WWE A-Lister Of The Year"

Vickie Guerrero, along with Goldust, present this selection. Nominees: Hugh Jackman, The Muppets, Snooki, & Cee-Lo Green.

Winner: "Sssnooki" says Goldust. While not in person, she left a video message of acceptance and thanks.

Segment #11: Backstage Promo

Josh Matthews is with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion mark Henry. He asks Mark about his state of mind, taking on John Cena before T.L.C. Henry responds by warning Big Show that he hasn't seen nothing yet, and regarding Cena, he got in his business and tonight, he will get inducted into "The Hall Of Pain."

Ads.

Match #4: Single - Sheamus VS. Jinder Mahal

Mahal cuts a promo, mainly in Punjab, then promptly gets Brogue Kicked. Sheamus shrugs his shoulder and leaves pleasantly.

Winner: Sheamus via knockout.

Commercials.

Segment #12: Slammy #11 - "Superstar Of The Year"

A one-night only return for a former World Heavyweight & WWE Champion happens, as Rey Mysterio comes back to present this last and prestigious award. He puts it over as the "greatest honor for any WWE Superstar" since it is the people who decide who wins and there is no greatest honor than performing for all of the fans. Nominees: Randy Orton, The Miz, C.M. Punk, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry, & John Cena.

Winner: C.M. Punk!

"The Straight-Edge Superstar's" music plays but instead out walks Raw "Interim" G.M. John Laurinaitis. He "humbly" accepts the award himself, since Punk is in no condition to do so himself.

Segment #13: Cryptic Promo

Another video for the mysterious superstar that is coming back on the second day of 2012 airs.

Ads.

Match #5: Single - World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry VS. John Cena (Non-Title)

Stare down begins and a lock up, with Henry overpowering and shoving Cena to the corner.

Commercials.

Back live, Mark runs and splashes Cena in the corner. 1 - 2 - John kicks out! Henry misses another splash, and John was able to pick him up in a slam position, but Henry's girth outweighed and pressed him down to the mat. Cena manages to get out of a rear head-twisting lock with a back body drop, and 5-Knuckle Shuffle.

He goes for an Attitude Adjustment but Henry overpowers again. 1 - 2 - Cena kicks out! Cena fights back with a few punches and a couple shoulder-blocks, but literally gets caught in Bear-Hug from "The World's Strongest Man."

Henry again catches Cena and drives him down with the "World's Strongest Slam", but cannot recover in time to make the pin. Just now, pyro blows on the stage and the lights go out.

Winner: No Contest

Familiar music blasts the speaker and Kane is resurrected! He comes out in completely new attire - a mask that is similar to a hybrid of Casey Jones from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and a welder, full-on body suite with new designs and hair again! (Plus, another version of his music).

He slowly walks down the ramp, as Henry looks on in disbelief. Instead though, he aims for and chokeslams John Cena! Kane stands over Cena and explodes his fireworks in the turnbuckles, making the arena lit in red. He then removes the mask to reveal a second, more like his 2002-2003 one. Raw fades to black with Kane smiling sadistically.

End Of Raw.

Reporter's Rumblings - By Moe Tapp

Overall, a hit/miss show, not the best, but the ending made up for it all! That was truly a great surprise.

Excellence: "Blasts from the pasts" of Road Dogg, Lita, Ted DiBiase Sr. C.M. Punk's "pipe bomb" award and acceptance. C.M. Punk winning Superstar of the year. Edge mentioned in the "game changer." Triple H returning and promo. Fatal-4-Way - beautiful wrestling and great fallout! THE ENDING - enough said!

Bogus: Pretty much everything else. Like I stated above, not a great show, and really, the "awards" gig should be kept to the last Raw at the end of the year - not 6 days before a Pay-Per-View.

That's it for this week - until 7 days from now, as always, Be Excellent Wrestling-Online Readers & Wrestling Fans!
