Reported by Earnest I Aguilar The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Spokane Washington. The show begins with Randy Orton walking to the ring with the title after having defeated Christian for the second time at Over the Limit. Orton is immediately interrupted by Christian. Christian is all smiles and says he congratulates Randy on his win and admits that he was the better man that night. But Christian adds that even Randy must admit that match was one of the best of his career, and it could have gone either way. Christian wants another shot at the title, but before Randy can answer, they are interrupted by Sheamus. Sheamus says that Christian has lost again to Orton, making him a two time loser. Sheamus on the other hand is a two time champion, and he wants the next title shot. Mark Henry is out next to tell us he deserves the next title shot. Teddy Long comes out next. Whenever there are two babyfaces and two heels in the ring, I expect Teddy to make a tag team match, but instead he makes a 3 way number one contender's match for the title. Later tonight it will be Christian versus Mark Henry versus Sheamus, and the winner will face Orton for the title next week. Commercial Match #1: Chavo Guerrero versus Sin Cara. Chavo starts things off with a kick and an Irish Whip. Chavo goes for an armdrag but Sin Cara reverses is and takes down Chavo instead. Sin Cara then runs up the ropes while holding Chavo's arm and flies over Chavo, sending him flying out of the ring with a flying arm drag. Chavo re enters the ring and is taken down with a drop toe hold. Sin Cara punches Chavo and whips him into the corner. Sin Cara goes for a splash on Chavo in the corner but Chavo dodges it and then hits Sin Cara with running double knees to the back in the corner. Chavo follows up with a gut wrench suplex and then ties up Sin Cara's arm on the mat. Sin Cara punches his way out and Chavo punches back. Chavo picks Sin Cara up, and Sin Cara rolls out and flips Chavo out to the floor. Sin Cara goes to the ring apron and hits Chavo down with an Asai moonsault and then rolls him back into the ring. Sin Cara hits Chavo with a springboard hurricanrana, a series of strikes, and a springboard back elbow. Sin Cara hits Chavo with a kick to the head and then a flying cross body before going for a cover and getting two. Chavo rolls Sin Cara over and goes for a cover, but Sin Cara kicks out. Chavo follows up with an uppercut and a knee to the head but has an elbow strike misses. Sin Cara then hits Chavo with a tilt a whirl head scissors take down transitioned into a single arm take down, driving the opponent face first into the mat for the win!! This move was called "La Mistica" in CMLL, and usually ended with a float over into a Fujiwara arm bar. Commercial When we return, Cody Rhodes is walking to the ring with his "baggers": the two men that have been handing out bags to the fans on Cody's behalf the last few weeks. Cody says he has traveled from city to city hoping to find one moderately attractive face and is always disappointed. So tonight, as a service to the fans and at great personal expense, Cody gives them all paper bags to hide their ugly faces with. He screams "SHUT UP AND BAG YOURSELVES" to the crowd. Cody is interrupted by Daniel Bryan's music. Match #2: Cody Rhodes versus Daniel Bryan. Cody starts off with a kick, and then puts Bryan in a headlock. Cody sends Bryan into the ropes and shoulder blocks him. Bryan responds with an armdrag and an Irish Whip to the corner. Cody lands a punch and a kick and grabs Bryan's leg; Bryan reverses the hold. Bryan hits Cody with several kicks, including one to the head. Cody hip tosses Bryan to the floor. Commercial When we return, Cody slams Bryan face first into the turnbuckle. Bryan responds with a pair of European uppercuts. Cody gets Bryan into the corner again, and then hangs him up on the ropes to set him up for a kick to the gut. Cody pounds on Bryan on the mat and goes for a cover, getting two. Cody lands a couple of kicks and then takes Bryan to the mat, trapping his arm and chin. Bryan tries to fight his way out, but Cody gets behind him, takes him down again, and headbutts him with his protective face mask. Bryan fights back with some kicks and a leg lariat. Bryan follows up with more strikes, a clothesline, and a drop kick in the corner. Daniel then hits a missile drop kick from the top rope and gets a two count. Bryan looks like he may be going for the Lebell lock, but Cody fights it off. Cody whips Bryan hard into the corner. Cody and Bryan exchange a couple near falls. Bryan runs up the ropes and leaps over Rhodes, but Cody hits him with the "Beautiful Disaster" kick when he lands. Rhodes tries to get Bryan with the CrossRhodes, but Bryan reverses it and transitions into the Lebell lock. Cody taps out almost immediately, Daniel Bryan wins!!!! After the match, Cody cheap shots Bryan and then pummels him. After knocking him out, Rhodes puts a bag over his head. Commercial Match #3: Ezekiel Jackson versus Heath Slater. Slater gets behind Jackson first, and Jackson goes for a back fist that misses but frightens Slater backwards onto his ass. Jackson pummels Slater in the corner and throws him across the ring. Jackson runs across the ring to hit Slater with a splash in the corner, but Slater gets his knees up and knocks Jackson down. Slater lands a punch and a kick and goes for a pin, but Jackson kicks out. Slater puts on a chin lock, but Jackson throws him off. Slater hits Jackson with a flying forearm, and a punch. Slater goes to the top rope but misses Jackson and gets run over by him. Jackson knocks Slater down again with a clothesline and then bodyslams him several times in a row before putting him in the torture rack. The Corre comes to the rescue before Slater taps out, giving Jackson the win by DQ instead of submission. Jackson fights off all three members of the Corre and they retreat back up the entrance ramp as Jackson poses and smiles. In the back Matt Striker is interviewing Christian. Striker tells Christian that this could be his last chance to win back the title it took him 17 years to win and less than a week to lose. Christian responds that he has always been a slow starter, but a strong finisher. He claims to have always been the last player picked for kickball, but eventually became a FOUR TIME CKC!!! (for those of that don't know CKC stands for "Canadian Kickball Champion", of course) He also says he was the last kid in his class to hit puberty (and tells Striker not to laugh at that) but when prom time came, he had the prettiest girl. He insists that even though the odds are stacked against him, he will get the last laugh. Commercial Match #4: Khali versus Kane. This was a short match featuring two slow, plodding wrestlers. They two men exchange some strikes, clotheslines, uppercuts and chops. Khali gets Kane down with a nerve hold to the shoulder but Kane fights out. They both try for a choke slam, but Khali knocks Kane out of the ring. Kane re enters the ring with a flying clothesline from the top rope for the win. After the match, Jinder Mahal comes to the ring to confront Khali, and once again Jinder slaps him across the ring. Runjin Singh argues with Mahal, and Mahal pushes Singh away. Khali grabs Mahal and defends his brother Runjin Singh. Mahal looks concerned, until Khali puts his brother in the Khali vice group and squeezes his head until he passes out. Mahal looks happy. Commercial When we return, Booker T is in the ring, and he invites Michael Cole to join him. Cole is reluctant until Josh accuses him of being afraid. Cole enters the ring and Booker mocks him for losing to Lawler in a Kiss My Foot match. Booker then leads the crowd in a "Kiss My Feet" chant. Cole walks away embarrassed as Booker laughs and tells Cole he's just playing. Matt Striker is interviewing Sheamus for his 3 way match later tonight versus Christian and Mark Henry. Sheamus points out that Christian took 17 years to win his first world championship, and Mark Henry has never won one. So between the two of them, they have one title in 33 years. Sheamus on the other hand is a two time champion and he won his first title in just a few months. Commercial When we return, we see a recap of Kharma's emotional breakdown from last week. The story is she's pregnant and needs some time off. Match #5: AJ and Kaitlyn with Natalya versus Alicia Fox and Tamina. AJ and Alicia start things off. AJ takes Alicia down with a hurricanrana and then tags in Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn takes Alicia down with a clothesline and then slams her face repeatedly into the canvas. Alicia pushes her off and hits a side slam. Tamina and AJ enter the ring and then take their fight to the floor. In the confusion, Alicia is able to hit Kaitlyn with a scissors kick to the back of the head for the win. Booker T seems flattered that his old finisher was used to win the match. Commercial After the break, Matt Striker interviews Mark Henry. Striker asks about the match tonight, but Henry takes everything he says as an insult and bullies Striker into silence. A video tribute to the legendary "Macho Man" Randy Savage is shown. The same video was shown on Raw this week. The voice over at the beginning sounded a little cheezy to me, but I was moved watching the tribute. He was one of the greatest performers ever. Commercial Match #6: Christian versus Sheamus versus Mark Henry for the chance to wrestle Randy Orton for the title next week. Christian starts off with a series of punches to both of his opponents. Sheamus and Mark Henry team up to beat Christian down. They beat on Christian for a while and then whip him to the ropes. Christian slides out to the floor and Sheamus goes after him. Sheamus then goes after Mark Henry and hits him with his knees before turning back to Christian. Sheamus punches Christian and then goes for a superplex. Christian blocks the superplex and knocks Sheamus off the ropes and onto the mat. Christian then tries to hit Henry with a flying cross body, but Henry catches him and hits him with the World's Strongest Slam. Henry goes for the pin but Sheamus makes the save. Sheamus knocks Henry to the floor, then tries to pin Christian, who still looks out of it. Christian kicks out at 2 and Sheamus sets him up for the Celtic Cross. Christian slides out of it hits Sheamus with a pendulum kick and a tornado DDT for a 2 count. Outside the ring, Mark Henry takes a cheap shot at Randy Orton. Henry re enters the ring and hits Christian. Christian whips Henry into Sheamus in the corner and Sheamus goes down. Christian hits Henry with a drop kick to the knee, knocking Henry down. Sheamus gets back to his feet and spears Sheamus! As Christian goes for the cover, Randy Orton enters the ring and RKO's Henry in retaliation for the cheap shot Henry gave him moments ago. The ref is distracted by the Orton's involvement and is late making the count on Sheamus for Christian. Christian gets angry with the ref and pleads his case. The ref tries to explain himself, and then Sheamus takes advantage of Christian's distraction and hits him with the Brogue kick for the win. Sheamus will face Randy Orton next week for the heavyweight championship. As the show comes to a close, Christian and Orton are alone in the ring, and Christian looks very disappointed. |
