The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Sacramento California. The show begins with HHH coming to the ring. HHH tells us how much has changed in the last month since he became C.O.O. He doesn't get far when he is interrupted by Christian.
Christian comes out to tell us, as he announced on Raw, that he has a major announcement for tonight. Christian also wants to know why HHH didn't try to call him or reach out to him in some way, considering he is the company's World Champion. HHH replies that he "didn't give a crap." Christian is mad but not surprised.
Christian then tells us that his announcement is this: after consulting his legal team, he has decided to sue the WWE and everyone involved with it (including fans apparently) forcing him to work in an unsafe environment. He has proof that Randy Orton is mentally unstable and has anger management issues. (It has previously been established that Randy Orton suffers from Intermittent Explosive Disorder)
If Christian is forced to compete in a no-rules match with a violently mentally ill person, then he will sue. HHH replies that Christian has signed a contract with the WWE, and therefore HHH is his boss. If Christian doesn't take the match at SummerSlam, then he will be in breach of contract and HHH will fire him. HHH then says that he can fire Christian right now, and take the title from him, or Christian can take the match, drop the lawsuit, and keep his job.
I'm not a lawyer, but I think HHH is on the wrong side of the law. He didn't even try to address the issue of whether or not he has created an unsafe work environment; he just said he'll fire Christian if Christian does not obey.
Christian is very upset, and starts to whine "why?" repeatedly. He reminds HHH that Orton has attacked his family. HHH replies that while he does not like Orton, he respects him. The fans respect Orton AND like him, but they don't like Christian, because he's a whiner. HHH says he used to respect Christian, but doesn't anymore. HHH announces that the match is still on.
Christian interrupts HHH to say he's not giving him the last word: he agrees to drop the lawsuit and promises to beat his opponent tonight, no matter who it is, and Randy Orton at SummerSlam. HHH announces that tonight, Christian will be facing Sheamus.
