Smackdown TV Report 10/14/11

Reported by Earnest I Aguilar
The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Dallas Texas. The show opens with Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis walking to the ring to announce that Smackdown is now the second longest running episodic show in TV history, second only to Raw. They tell us that tonight's historic episode will feature the largest battle royal in WWE history; and the winner will get a shot at the title of their choice.

Match #1: 41 man battle royal.

All battle royals start off badly; there are too many people doing too many things at once for any of it to mean anything to the viewer. This one did start off with one major surprise though; Cody Rhodes was the FIRST man eliminated! Cody was eliminated before any of the NXT rookies, before Santino, before ANYONE.

After TWO commercial breaks the battle royal is still going strong. The Miz and R Truth are teaming up. Mason Ryan military press slams Justin Gabriel out of the ring, and is then eliminated by Wade Barrett.

Sheamus eliminates Zach Ryder, David Otunga, Jay Uso, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, and Sin Cara Negro, one after the other in about a minute. Christian tries to eliminate his rival Sheamus, but Sheamus eliminates Christian to. Christian gets revenge by re-entering the fray and eliminating Sheamus.

CM Punk eliminates R Truth and is then eliminated himself. Punk and Truth brawl outside the ring as the battle royal continues. Randy Orton eliminates Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, and Jinder Mahal after hitting each of them with an RKO.

The Miz nearly throws Orton over the top, but Orton stays in the ring. Miz beats Orton down and then hits him with knee lifts to the face. After an Irish Whip, Orton hits Miz with a pair of powerslams and a scoop power slam. Randy goes for an RKO but Orton tries to counter with the Skull Crushing Finale. Randy counters the Miz and tries to throw him out, but they both end up on the edge of the ring apron just outside the ropes.

The two men exchange punches and eventually Orton hits Miz with an RKO, causing them both to hit the mat and bounce to the floor. The refs declare Orton the winner and the replay shows that the Miz' feet did hit first. Randy Orton wins the largest battle royal in history and earns a championship match of his choosing; he chooses Mark Henry and the World Heavyweight title.

When we return, Alberto Del Rio appears to be leaving and is confronted by GM Teddy Long. Alberto says Orton chose to fight for Henry's title, not Alberto's, so he's going home. Alberto thinks Orton is probably afraid to face him, because he knows he would lose. Teddy says that while Alberto may not have to wrestle Randy Orton tonight, he is going to wrestle, and his opponent is going to be Sheamus.

Match #2: Beth Phoenix versus Kelly Kelly.

The two Divas lock up and Beth pushes Kelly into the corner. Beth takes a swing and misses; Kelly pushes Beth into the corner and administers an aggressive beating. Kelly goes for a hurricanrana, but Beth turns it into a backbreaker.

In the back, Teddy Long is talking to both members of Air Boom, and he is informing them that Evan Bourne is not cleared to wrestle tonight. Vickie Guerrero is there and is outraged that her clients, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger, aren't going to be facing Air Boom for the titles tonight.

Teddy Long's assistant, Zach Ryder, offers to tag with Kofi Kingston tonight to face Swagger and Ziggler, and Teddy Long makes the match.

After the match, Christian sneaks into the ring and spears Sheamus. As Christian walks away, he sees Sheamus slowly getting to his feet. Christian seems a little annoyed and spears Sheamus again. As Christian makes his way to the back, he sees Sheamus slowly stagger to his feet again, and looks unnerved.

Kofi lands a pair of double chops, a clothesline, a dropkick, and then the Boom Drop. Kofi sets up for the Trouble in Paradise, Dolph rolls to the floor, and then Kofi hits him with a suicide dive!

Zach tries to finish Dolph off with the Rough Ryder, but Dolph dodges it and gets Zach in a sleeper hold. Zach is starting to fade, but finally runs into the corner; freeing himself and knocking out Ziggler. Swagger tries to interfere but Kofi hits him with the Trouble in Paradise and then drapes the barely conscious Ryder on top of the unconscious Ziggler for the win.

When we return, Matt Striker is interviewing Sheamus and asking him about Christian. Sheamus says Christian is like an ugly, slow, dim witted troll he heard about in Ireland that hides under a bridge and bites everyone on the arse. Eventually, a big white bull came along and booted that troll off the bridge. Sheamus says he is that big white bull.
