Smackdown TV Report 2/18/11

Reported by Earnest i Aguilar
The 600th episode of SmackDown comes to us from San Diego California. Later tonight we will witness the coronation of Dolph Ziggler as the new WWE champion, but first, a 12 man tag match featuring the participants of both Elimination Chamber matches, all the heels are on one team, all the babyfaces on the other:

John Cena, Randy Orton, R Truth, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, and Edge versus Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre, Seamus, and Kane.

Edge is introduced as the champion and Cole is outraged. Drew and Edge are the first two in the ring and Drew beats Edge down in the corner. Edge turns things around and beats Drew down in the opposite corner and tags in R Truth. Truth lands some punches and knocks Drew down after an Irish Whip. Drew tags in Dolph and Dolph lands a hip toss.

Truth tags in Randy Orton and Orton dominates Ziggler with punches, clotheslines, and a knee drop. Orton tags Cena in and Cena slams Ziggler's face to the turnbuckle. Dolph turns things around and starts to pummel in the corner, then hits him with a face plant bull dog.

Cena tags in Morrison and Dolph gets the early advantage against him. Morrison is able to trip Ziggler up and attempts to hit Starship Pain but it's blocked by Ziggler who throws Morrison to the mat.

Sheamus is in the ring delivering a suplex to John Morrison when we return. Sheamus tags in CM Punk, and Punk rubs his eyes as he attacks Morrison, reminding him of the way he blinded Morrison last week. Punk wraps up Morrison with a leg lock that looks like an inverted triangle choke.

Morrison gets free and tags on Mysterio. Rey comes in and downs Punk with a seated senton and follows up with a springboard cross body press. After a kick to the head and a headscissors takeover into the ropes, Rey goes for the 619, but Punk catches his legs and hits Rey with a back breaker.

Punk tags in Kane and Kane stomps Rey and then puts him in a bear hug. Rey punches his way out and kicks Kane in the face. Rey ends up in the wrong corner, but lands a few shots against the heels before Kane slides him to the floor, where Punk hits him with a cheap shot.

When we return, Wade Barrett is in the ring with Mysterio and he hits him with a side slam and tags in Sheamus. Rey tries to make a tag but Sheamus prevents it. Rey lands several strikes but Sheamus responds with the Irish Curse back breaker. Wade Barrett is tagged back in and knocks Rey down with a headbutt.

Wade whips Rey into the corner and charges, Rey gets out of the way and hits Wade with a moonsault. Edge and Dolph get tagged in at the same time. Edge lands a couple clotheslines and a DDT, then sets up for the spear. Sheamus interferes and hits Edge with a boot to the face.

Everyone ends up in the ring and everyone hits their finisher on someone, until the final two men left are Edge and Dolph, and Edge spears Dolph for the win!

After the match Vickie Guerrero tells Edge he must turn in the World title so Dolph can be awarded it later tonight. She also says she doesn't know why some football player from Green Bay that isn't even a licensed official counted the pin for Edge.

Vickie also claims that she thinks Edge was responsible for the attack on Teddy Long, and she fires Edge, claiming to do so with great reluctance, despite appearing gleeful. Edge looks unhappy.

When we return, Todd Grisham is interviewing Dashing Cody Rhodes after his successful reconstructive surgery. Cody is still wearing a plastic face guard, and his face is mostly covered in shadow.

He tells us how much he has suffered because of his broken nose, not just because he is so Dashing either, but also because the injury has taken away several chances to go to WrestleMania. He promises a major announcement next week.

Match: Eve and Beth Phoenix versus Maryse and Layla, with an injured Michelle McCool on commentary.

Michelle claims to have hurt her foot kicking her BFF Layla in the head recently. Maryse and Beth Phoenix are the first two in the ring, and Maryse starts things off with a slap to Beth's face. Beth responds by pummeling Maryse and then taking her down with a clothesline.

Maryse tags in Layla and Layla lands a kick to the gut. Beth takes Layla down, then grabs her arm, twists it and hoists her into the air by her arm before dropping her to the canvas. Beth tags in Eve and Eve lands a pair of drop kicks. Layla tries to retaliate with a kick but it's caught by Eve. Eve hits Layla with a suplex and then floats over to make a cover and gets a 2 count.

Eve is in control and lands a sunset flip and a clothesline before Michelle McCool jumps up onto the ring apron to yell at Eve. Beth Phoenix grabs Michelle and pulls her to the floor, and Maryse and Layla double team Eve while the ref is focused on the action outside the ring. They both land a kick to Eve and Layla covers her for the win.

When we return we are shown footage of the Rock's return to Monday Night Raw. The Rock thanks the people, rips on the Miz and John Cena, and promises never to leave again. This all happened on Raw, but they showed almost all of the Rock's promo tonight on SmackDown.

Later, we will witness the coronation of Dolph Ziggler.

Match: Kofi Kingston (IC champ) versus the Miz, (World Champion) Miz goes behind Kofi for a waist lock and Kofi reverses. Miz applies an armlock and then a headlock. After an Irish Whip, Kofi leapfrogs the Miz once, and then throws him with an armdrag. The Miz applies a hammerlock; when Kofi escapes, Miz hits him with a kick to the gut.

Kofi responds with an Irish Whip and a pair of flying cross body presses. The two men exchange a series of strikes and the Kofi goes for a corner splash. Miz gets out of the way, but Kofi lands on the ropes and doesn't lose his footing, until Miz pushes him off.

When we return, Miz hits Kofi with a boot and a vertical suplex. Miz plants his knee firmly onto Kofi's back and pulls back on his arms. Kofi tries to reverse it, but after Kofi spins around, the Miz spins around again to re-reverse it. Then Kofi reverses it again, Miz re-reverse, and Kofi re-re-reverses. They exchange strikes again and Kofi gets the edge and hits Miz with a dropkick and a hurricanrana.

Miz goes for a shoulder block in the corner and Kofi hits him with a pendulum kick. Kofi follows up with high cross body. Miz hits Kofi with the reality check (his old finisher) and whips him to the ropes. Kofi leaps at the top rope head first, and then bounces straight backwards after the top of his head hits the rope.

Kofi drops Miz with a big punch, then hits him with the Boom Drop. Kofi is setting up for the Trouble in Paradise. Alberto Del Rio comes out to distract Kofi, and eventually whips him twice with his white scarf. The Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on the distraction and gets the win. After the match, Alberto smiles over the fallen body of Kofi Kingston.

When we return we are shown a classic SmackDown moment in honor of the 600th episode of Smackdown: The championship celebration of Eddie Guerrero. I believe Eddie was the greatest wrestler that ever lived: He was a great athlete, had a huge variety of high flying moves, was one of the best mat grapplers ever, he could do great hardcore brawling matches, great gimmick matches like the ladder match, he was great at getting the crowd to boo him as a heel and cheer him as a baby face.

Even when his talents were being wasted in WCW the crowd always reacted to him the way they were supposed to, he made people love him when that was his job; he made people hate him when that was his job. He was a great entertainer, his lie cheat and steal gimmick gave us some of the most memorable finishes ever.

No one has ever been so good at everything you could ever want a wrestler to be good at. He was an artist and he was just as good at what he did as Michelangelo was at what he did. I miss him more than any other wrestler.

Match: Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel versus tag champs Santino and Kozlov.

Kozlov and Gabriel are in first and Kozlov knocks Gabriel down right away. Gabriel leaps at Kozlov but end up getting caught, and Kozlov sends Gabriel to the floor with a fallaway slam. Gabriel comes back in and tags Slater. Slater hits Kozlov with a boot and presses the advantage, pummeling Kozlov in the ring.

Kozlov tags in Santino, and Santino dodges a strike with his split-drop ducking move, then comes back up hip tosses Slater. Slater tags in Gabriel and Santino goes for the Cobra! The Corre runs in and attacks Santino, beating down both Santino and Kozlov, resulting in a DQ.

Before the beating goes on for very long, the Big Show runs out to save the day. He beats up the entire Corre and chases them out of the ring. Show challenges Ezekiel Jackson to come into the ring and face him one on one. Jackson is smiling and looks like he wants to take him up on it.

Another classic SmackDown moment is shown: this time it's the brawl Steve Austin and new announcer Booker T had in a supermarket.

Commercial.

When we return, Vickie Guerrero is introducing her boyfriend Dolph Ziggler as the new champion. At that moment, Teddy Long's music hits and Teddy comes to the ring. Teddy looks mad, and Vickie looks nervous. Teddy says that Dolph and Vickie look like they saw a ghost, and he accuses them of being the ones that attacked him, because they had the most to gain.

At first Vickie denies it, but eventually Teddy gets her to admit they did it, claiming it was all Dolph's idea. Teddy says that Vickie and Dolph better clear the ring, because there is going to be a title match tonight, and Dolph is going to have to put the title on the line against the man Vickie just fired, (and Teddy Long just re-hired) Edge! Edge comes out to the ring.

Commercial

The match starts with Edge hitting a clothesline and a half nelson bulldog. Edge runs at Dolph in the corner and Dolph leapfrogs him, sending Edge flying headfirst into the corner. Dolph takes Edge to the floor and stomps on him repeatedly. Back in the ring, Dolph lands a couple strikes and a chin lock. Edge fights his way out and whips Dolph to the ropes, but Dolph float over and puts on the sleeper hold.

Edge eventually forces his way out. Dolph tries to stay on offense and knocks Edge towards the ropes. Dolph goes for a Zig Zag, but Edge holds onto the ropes and Dolph falls to the canvas. Edge whips Dolph to the ropes and spears him for the win! Edge is the new champ, again!

Teddy Long comes out and announces that Dolph Ziggler is now fired. Vickie looks upset and is yelling at Dolph. Dolph looks heartbroken and Edge looks pretty happy. Edge says that this night has been one big long party. Edge says he was fired a couple hours ago, so he knows how Dolph feels and he knows it doesn't feel very good.

But Edge thinks that the sight of Dolph Ziggler getting fired makes him want to sing. So Edge tries to lead the crowd in a chant of "na na na na,na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye." But since Edge is a bad singer it never really takes off after he stops. Still a decent show though.
