Smackdown TV Report 6/10/11

Reported by Earnest I Aguilar
The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Roanoke Virginia. The show begins with Christian walking to the ring to address the fans.

He says he wasn't sure what to expect from them tonight. If they cheered, that would mean they really 'got it.' That would mean they understood that Christian has been getting screwed lately, and that he was justified in attacking Randy Orton last week. But they didn't cheer, and Christian is through with them. He no longer cares about his "peeps".

Christian tells us that he doesn't even want to talk to the Peeps anymore, so he calls Michael Cole into the ring, because he would rather talk to him. Christian would rather talk to MICHAEL COLE than his fans: his heel turn is now complete, he has joined the Dark Side.

Michael Cole enters the ring and Christian complains to a sympathetic Cole that he just doesn't get the way Teddy Long runs things. If Bob from accounting was in line for a promotion, would they hire him or not based on merit, or would they ask a bunch of random idiots what they thought? Because that is what he claims Teddy Long did when he polled the WWE audience and booked the match with Orton that cost Christian the title.

Christian then asks Cole to poll the WWE universe and ask them if they think he deserves another title shot. Cole asks and they boo. Christian shakes his head and calls the fans utterly clueless, and tells us that when he wins the WWE title again, he will do it for himself.

Match #1: The Corre (Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and IC champ Wade Barrett) versus Ezekiel Jackson and the Usos, Jimmy and Jey.

For the rest of this article, Jimmy Uso will be referred to as simply 'Uso', and so will Jey Uso. I feel this more accurately reflects their completely indistinguishable nature. If I were to refer to them as Jimmy and Jey, you might think they were different is some meaningful way, and they are not. Also, I can't tell them apart and gave up trying after about half a minute.

Ezekiel Jackson and Heath Slater start the match off. Heath tries to kick Jackson, but Jackson catches his leg and then clotheslines him. Jackson whips Slater into the corner and then dives into him with a big splash. Jackson pushes Slater into the corner with the Usos and tags in Uso.

Uso puts Slater in a headlock, then whips him into the ropes. Uso hits Slater with a flying shoulder block, and Slater tags in Justin Gabriel. Gabriel gets hit with a superkick to the stomach that looked a little low to me, and then gets hit with a drop kick.

Uso tags in the other Uso and they double team Gabriel. Gabriel dodges an Uso charge in the corner. Heath Slater pulls Uso out to the floor and slams him into the announce table.

When we return, Wade Barrett is in the ring with Uso and is pummeling him. Barrett hits Uso with a spinning side slam and throws him to the Corre corner, where he gets triple teamed. Barrett tags in Slater. Slater stomps on Uso and covers him, but gets only 2. Slater hits Uso with a jumping reverse bulldog and then tags in Gabriel.

Gabriel continues the attack and follows up with a pin attempt and gets a two count. Gabriel tags in Barrett and Barrett punches Uso repeatedly before giving him an Irish Whip. Uso fights back and manages to make the tag to Ezekiel Jackson. Barrett runs away and tags in Gabriel. Jackson clotheslines Gabriel and then bodyslams him.

Barrett starts to walk back to the locker room area and Slater angrily confronts him; but Barrett keeps walking away. Slater goes back to help Gabriel, but is hit with a double superkick from both Uso brothers that knocks him out of the ring.

Jackson body slams Gabriel several times and then puts him in the torture rack. Gabriel taps out; the team of Ezekiel Jackson and Jimmy and Jey Uso win.

In the back, Teddy Long is on the phone placing bets on something named "Poppa's moustache" and "Giant Bride." It's probably horses; I don't think you can bet on wrestling. Teddy is interrupted by Sheamus. Sheamus is angry because Christian screwed him out of the world title last week and he demands Teddy book him in a match with Christian tonight.

Teddy refuses, but he does give Sheamus a non title match with Randy Orton in a no DQ match for later tonight. Sheamus seems pleased with that.

When we return, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel angrily confront Wade Barrett for abandoning them in the ring earlier tonight. Wade tries to tell them that since he has to defend the IC title at the next PPV, he did what he thought was right for the group; he even insists that what he did helps them.

Slater and Gabriel aren't buying it. They remind Barrett that everyone in the Corre was supposed to be equal, and then tell them that he's going to have to defend the IC title by himself, because the Corre is through.

Match: Jinder Mahal versus Trent Barreta.

Jinder gets the early advantage with a series of kicks and punches followed by an Irish Whip. Jinder hits Barretta with a high back drop and then stomps on him. Jinder goes for a suplex but Trent floats over and lands a kick.

Trent climbs the ropes but is distracted by the Great Khali, who approaches Trent menacingly. Jinder takes advantage of the distraction and pulls Barretta off the ropes by his hair and then hits him with a full nelson slam for the win.

After the match, the Great Khali squeezes Barretta's head until he passes out.

In the back, the newest WWE Diva AJ is being interviewed. She is interrupted by Santino's ex girlfriend Tamina. Tamina gives AJ cheese, because she is a "mousy little loser". Tamina is accompanied by Rosa Mendes, and they warn AJ that she is going to be all alone tonight, and then Natalya enters the scene and stands by AJ. Rosa laughs and asks if "someone just cut the cheese." Fart jokes are a lot funnier on South Park than on SmackDown.

Match: AJ versus Tamina.

AJ goes behind Tamina and gets hit with an elbow. Tamina picks up AJ but AJ rolls out and hits Tamina with a kick and a drop kick. Tamina strikes back and hits a headbutt and a bodyslam. Tamina locks up AJ's arm, but AJ escapes and lands a series of strikes.

Tamina whips AJ to the ropes and AJ responds with an elbow. AJ goes to the top rope and flies off into Tamina, but Tamina catches her and hoists her up on her shoulders. AJ rolls down Tamina's back and then rolls her up for the win.

When we return, Randy Orton is calling out Christian in the ring. Christian responds via the big screen, and tells Randy he's not coming out, because Randy wants to do more than talk. Randy agrees he wants to beat Christian and tells Christian to come to the ring to do this. Christian suggests they poll the WWE universe and see what they want to do, just like Teddy did when he cost Christian the title.

Christian then does a not great but recognizable impersonation of Teddy Long. Orton doesn't appear amused. Christian says he's not doing anything on other people's terms anymore. If he wants to fight Christian, it will be on his terms: at the Capitol Punishment PPV for the world title. Orton accepts and says he will beat Christian like he always does.

In the locker room, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes are talking. Cody wants to be the one to "call the shots" out there tonight, because of the way things have gone lately. Ted asks what he means by that, and Cody replies that while Ted was worrying about money and women, Cody remained focused.

Ted asks if Cody was focused when got his face kicked in and went crazy. Cody calls for one of his baggers and orders him to cover his face with a plastic bag, and the bagger complies. Cody says that after he lost everything, he discovered he could do anything, and that while he may be crazy, he may also be a genius.

Match: Sin Cara versus Ted DiBiase.

Ted starts things off with a headlock and an arm lock. Sin Cara escapes and responds with a springboard cross body. Sin Cara runs up the ropes while clutching DiBiase's arm and hits him with a top rope arm drag. Sin Cara lands a kick, misses a handspring back elbow, and then launches Ted across the ring with a flying headscissors.

Ted beats Sin Cara down in the corner and then applies the Cobra Clutch. Sin Cara escapes and hits Ted with a kick to the head. Cody pulls Sin Cara to the edge of the ring apron and then beats on him. Teds joins in the beating and Sin Cara wins by DQ as the beating continues. Daniel Bryan runs out to the ring to makes the save, returning the favor Sin Cara did for him last week.

Teddy Long comes out and announces a tag match for later tonight: Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara versus Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes.

Cody tags in Ted and Ted lands a few kicks and an elbow drop before tagging Cody back in.

Cody hits Daniel Bryan with a cheap shot and then Ted and Cody double team Sin Cara. Cody goes back to work on the arm but Sin Cara escapes and tags in Bryan and Cody tags in Ted. Bryan sends Ted into the corner with an overhead throw. Sin Cara suicide dives out of the ring, crashing into Cody Rhodes. Daniel Bryan climbs to the top and Ted climbs up after him.

Bryan pushes Ted off and then flies into him. Ted catches Bryan in mid air, but Bryan quickly locks up Ted's head in a submission attempt. They fall to the mat and Bryan transitions into the LeBell lock and DiBiase taps out: Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara win!

When we return, Johnny Curtis is telling us that he recently won NXT and can't seem to get any TV time. He insists he isn't bitter, but there is a chip on his shoulder. It's an actual chip, and he eats it.

Matt Striker is interviewing Randy Orton for his no DQ match with Sheamus. Randy says that since Sheamus is a brawler, a no DQ match favors him. But Randy points out that he has had a lot of anger management issues over the years, and this match is going to be like therapy for him.

Commercial

Match: Randy Orton versus Sheamus, no DQ.

Sheamus pushes Orton to the corner and pummels him with kicks, elbows and punches. After an Irish Whip, Orton drops Sheamus with a Thesz press and beats on him. Orton clotheslines Sheamus and then throws him out onto the floor. Orton goes after Sheamus and slams him into the barrier, then clotheslines him on the floor.

Sheamus hits Orton with a knee that puts him on his back. Sheamus sets up for a slingshot shoulder block but Orton hits him with a dropkick in mid air that knock him to the floor.

Randy appears to be limping from a leg injury but goes after Sheamus outside the ring and slams him into the security barrier and the steel steps. Randy stands on Sheamus' head, but Sheamus yanks on Orton's leg and Orton crashes into the steel steps.

Sheamus again works on the arm and neck of Orton, as Orton gets back to his feet. Sheamus switches to a chin lock and Randy suplexes him. Both men are slow to get up, but exchange a series of huge strikes when they do. Randy knocks Sheamus down with a clothesline, and then follows up with a scoop slam.

Randy goes for a rope hung DDT but Sheamus avoids it. Sheamus throws Orton to the floor and goes out after him. Sheamus whips Orton into the security barrier and then into the steel steps. Sheamus then picks up the top step and drops it onto Orton's back. Sheamus rolls Orton into the ring and then puts one of the steel steps into the ring.

As Sheamus re–enters the ring Orton hits him with an inverted headlock back breaker. Randy grabs the steel steps and pulls them to the center of the ring. Sheamus gets to his feet and slams Randy into the corner and stamps him repeatedly. Sheamus tries to body slam Orton onto the steel steps, but Orton blocks it and scoop slams Sheamus onto the steel step!

Orton goes for a cover but gets only two. Sheamus fights back and hits Orton with a side slam back breaker (or 'Irish Curse' backbreaker) Sheamus goes to the floor and gets a Kendo stick. Orton has the crazy eyes now and sets Sheamus up for a rope hung DDT again and this time he hits it. Orton sets up for the RKO when he is suddenly attacked by Christian, who tries to hit Orton with the "Unprettier." Orton blocks it and tries to hit Christian with an RKO but Christian blocks that.

Sheamus hits Orton with a double axe handle and goes for a cover but gets only 2. Sheamus sets Orton up for the high cross but Randy slides out. Sheamus goes for a Brogue kick but Orton dodges it and hits Sheamus with an RKO!

Before Orton can go for a cover, Christian hits him in the head with the title belt. Sheamus covers the unconscious Randy Orton for the win as Christian holds onto Orton's title belt.
