Smackdown TV Report 11/4/11

Reported by Earnest I Aguilar Zevallos
The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Greenville South Carolina. The show opens with a match that could headline a Pay Per View: A Street fight between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

The two men lock up and struggle for position in the middle of the ring. Cody lands a kick and then puts Randy in a headlock. After an Irish Whip, Orton leapfrogs over Rhodes and then they exchange kicks. Orton takes Cody down with a headlock. Cody gets free but is then shoulder blocked to the floor by Orton. Orton pursues but is hit by a kick from Cody. Cody slams Orton into the steel steps and then pounds Orton on the floor.

Orton gets to his feet and lands a pair of kicks but Cody responds by slamming Orton into the edge of the ring apron. Cody lands a couple punches, drops a knee onto Orton's head, and then rolls him back into the ring. Cody starts to re enter the ring but Orton cuts him off and snaps his head down on the top rope causing Cody to fall to the floor.

Randy slams Cody into the steel steps twice and then into the security barrier. Orton hits Cody with a clothesline that sends him over the barrier into the first row. Randy hits Cody with punches and European uppercuts as Cody tries to get away. Cody uses one of his baggers as a shield and Orton backdrops the bagger and rolls Cody back into the ring.

Cody runs across the ring and rolls out the other side, tossing his other bagger into the ring to buy himself some more time. Orton hits the bagger with an RKO and goes after Rhodes.

When we return, Cody is still retreating and Orton is still attacking. The two men exchange punches and Cody unsuccessfully tries to suplex Orton onto the steel grate on the floor. Randy pummels Cody near the security barrier and then drags him back towards the ring. Orton pulls Cody up to the top rope and then superplexes him into the ring.

Orton goes for a cover and Cody kicks out at 2. Cody hits Orton with a standing drop kick and then throws Orton to the floor. Cody pursues and Orton slams him over the barrier into the time keeper's area. Orton goes after Rhodes, but Rhodes takes off his protective mask and hits Orton in the face with out, knocking him flat on his back.

Cody throws Orton over the announce table and then lands several punches. Cody rolls Orton into the ring and hits him with a gordbuster. Cody tries to lock up Orton's arm but Orton punches his way out. Orton tries for a scoop slam, but Cody drops to the mat and punches up at Orton's head. Cody lands several strikes and then chop blocks Orton's knee. Cody continues to work on Orton's leg and then applies a figure four leg lock.

While Orton is caught in the hold, Cody takes off his mask and smashes Orton in the face with it. Randy lands a kick, causing Cody to drop the mask. Orton picks up the mask and hits Rhodes with it. Orton then lands a clothesline and a scoop slam and sets up for the RKO. Cody blocks the RKO and hits Orton with Beautiful Disaster.

Cody tries to hit Orton with Cross Rhodes but Orton blocks it and turns it into a backdrop. Orton tries for a rope hung DDT, but Orton blocks it and both men go out to the floor. They exchange punches until Orton slams Rhodes onto the security barrier. Orton hits Cody with a DDT as Rhodes' legs are hanging from the security barrier. Orton rolls Cody into the ring and then hits him with an RKO for the win! After the match, Orton puts one of Cody's "ugly people" bags on Cody's head.

Match #2: Ted DiBiase versus Tyson Kidd.

The two men lock up and Kidd lands the first kick. DiBiase responds with a dropkick and then whips Tyson into the ropes. DiBiase charges but Kidd gets his boots up and DiBiase gets knocked backwards. Tyson lands a couple more kicks and then hits DiBiase with a dropkick to the face.

Tyson hits DiBiase with a slingshot elbow. DiBiase responds with a suplex attempt, but Kidd rolls out of it. Tyson hits Dibiase with a clothesline and gets a near fall. The two men jockey for position and DiBiase tries to hit Dream Street. Tyson tries to fight it off, but DiBiase eventually hits Dream Street for the win.

After the match, Matt Striker asks Heavyweight Champ Mark Henry why he won't give the Big Show a rematch. Henry replies that he already took care of his business at Vengeance, and Show failed to get the job done. Henry then appears to get distracted by something and walks away.

Henry then approaches Daniel Bryan and asks Bryan if he was "eyeballing" him, and also asks if Bryan was thinking about cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Bryan says he was just hanging out, and intends to cash in his contract at WrestleMania, just like he said he would. Henry doesn't seem to care, and challenges him to a match later that night, unless he's scared. Bryan replies that he'll see him out there.

Match #3: Alicia Fox versus Natalya.

Natalya takes Alicia down with a headlock. Alicia gets to her feet, and Natalya gives her an Irish Whip. Alicia leapfrogs Natalya and hits her with a dropkick. Natalya rakes the eyes and slams Alicia to the mat. Natalya beats Alicia down and then puts her in a Boston Crab that Michael Cole called a Sharpshooter until Josh corrected him.

This may have been the first time in MONTHS that Cole actually tried to call a hold and he got it wrong. I can remember a time when I didn't look down on Michael Cole, but it's been so long I can't remember what it felt like. Alicia escapes and tries a couple kicks. Natalya catches the last kick, but then Alicia kicks her in the head with her free leg.

Natalya goes down and Alicia hits her with a somersault leg drop for the win. The announce team seemed to be in agreement that this move was a "scissor kick" despite the fact that it wasn't really a kick at all. WWE is a lot better than TNA, but TNA has a great announce team in Taz and Mike Tenay, and they actually call matches. The incompetent Michael Cole does his best to make TNA look good every chance he gets.

When we return, the Big Show has walked to the ring to talk about his recent match with Mark Henry. Big Show says that he and Henry have unfinished business, and if they don't get it resolved, he will knock Henry out every week until it does get resolved.

Christian interrupts, but claims he is just early for his match with Sheamus and means no disrespect to the Big Show. Then Christian decides to confront Big Show about Show's request for a rematch for the Heavyweight title. Christian doesn't think Show deserves another match because he had his shot and didn't get the job done. Christian on the other hand claims that he NEEDS one more match because as everyone knows, he keeps getting screwed over.

Christian also seems disgusted that Show is threatening to knock people out every week, which is something a Southerner would do. (The show tonight is in South Carolina) Christian then explains that he's CANADIAN, (so am I, as of October 20th!) and we Canadians do things a little differently.

Christian insists he COULD come out and knock people out every week, but he's too good a person to do that. Just then Big Show picks up his fist and Christian retreats, exclaiming that this is how Big Show solves everything, by knocking people out. Big Show laughs and says he was just scratching his chin, and he promises he has no intention of knocking Christian out. Christian seems to relax a little, and then Big Show choke slams him.

Match #4: Sheamus versus Christian.

Christian is trying to regain his composure by the announce table, but looks out of it. The ref explains to Sheamus that Christian claims he can't compete because he's still hurt from the choke slam he just received. Sheamus appears annoyed, but then they are interrupted by Wade Barrett. Wade says it's obvious that Christian is in no shape to compete and offers himself as a suitable replacement.

New Match #4: Sheamus versus Wade Barrett.

The two men exchange punches and kicks and then Sheamus slams Wade into the corner. Sheamus hits Wade with a body slam and an elbow drop. Wade retaliates with a headbutt. Sheamus lands a European uppercut and then ties Wade up in the ropes. Sheamus lands several clubbing blows to Wade's chest and then hits him with a knee lift to the face.

Sheamus goes out to the edge of the ring apron and slingshots himself back in, hitting Barrett with a flying shoulder block. Wade trips Sheamus into the ropes and then lands a kick. Wade puts Sheamus into a Muay Thai clinch and then hits him with several knees to the head before booting him to the floor.

Commercial

When we return, Wade is trying to stretch out the arms of Sheamus but Sheamus fights his way out. Sheamus tries for a Brogue kick but misses. Wade knocks Sheamus down and then hits him with a pump handle slam. Wade lands several kicks as Sheamus throws several punches that miss. Wade beats Sheamus down and then whips him hard into the corner. Wade goes to the second rope and lands an elbow drop. Wade puts Sheamus in a chin lock and Sheamus fights his way out of it. Sheamus tries to get Wade with the Celtic Cross, but Wade backdrops him and puts his boot to Sheamus' throat.

Wade lands a running boot to the head and goes for a cover but Sheamus kicks out. Wade goes for another chin lock but Sheamus escapes with an elbow to the head and follows up with a pair of double fisted blows to Barrett. Sheamus goes on the attack and lands several strikes, a clothesline, and a body slam. Sheamus again goes for the Celtic Cross but this time is distracted by Christian, who seems to have miraculously recovered.

Wade comes up behind Sheamus and rolls him up for the win. Sheamus goes after Wade at the conclusion of the match, but is speared by Christian. Wade and Christian walk back to the locker room triumphant and holding hands. (Sadly, it didn't seem as gay as it sounds. They were holding their hands up in the air, victoriously.)

Commercial

When we return, Sheamus is in the back attacking Christian and Wade Barrett until security pulls them apart.

In the locker room, Big Show offers to be in Daniel Bryan's corner tonight for his match against the Big Show.

Match #5: Sin Cara versus Epico.

Epico is the former tag team partner of Hunico (formerly known as Sin Cara Negro) in FCW. Epico starts off with a punch and then twists the arm of Sin Cara into a hammerlock. Sin Cara takes Epico over with a snap mare and then hits him with a hurricanrana.

Sin Cara lands a kick and then attempts a handspring back elbow, but it's blocked by Epico. Epico takes Sin Cara over with a double underhook suplex and then puts him in a Gory special backbreaker submission hold. Sin Cara escapes and arm drags Epico across the ring. Sin Cara grabs Epico's hand, runs up the ropes, and then sends him across the ring with an arm drag.

Sin Cara goes to the top rope again but is knocked off by Hunico who has come to the ring unannounced. Sin Cara wins by DQ but is double teamed and beaten down by Epico and Hunico.

Match #6: Mark Henry versus Daniel Bryan.

Bryan immediately gets behind Henry, leaps on his back, and tries to apply a sleeper hold. Henry throws Bryan off; Bryan retaliates with a series of kicks, maybe 6 or 7. Henry picks Bryan up to slam him, but Bryan counters and puts Henry in a Dragon Sleeper. Henry slams Bryan into the corner and then to the floor.

Bryan gets back in the ring; Henry hits him with a punch, a kick, and a clubbing blow to the back before knocking him to the floor again. Henry goes out after Bryan and presses his head against the steel ring post. Big Show comes over to confront Henry but doesn't attack. The distraction allows Bryan to get free, but only to get hit again and rolled back into the ring. Henry slams Bryan hard into the corner and then steps on his chest.

Bryan is in the ropes so the ref breaks it up. Bryan lands a couple stiff kicks, then a couple more. Bryan lands a series of kicks to Henry's legs, and then dropkicks him in the knees, taking the big man down. Bryan follows up with a wicked kick to the head that drops Mark Henry and Henry looks out cold. Bryan goes for a cover but Henry kicks out and sends Bryan out to the floor again.

Bryan re enters the ring and Henry hits him with a headbutt. Bryan responds with a kick and then climbs to the top rope. Bryan leaps off but is caught by Henry. Before Henry can slam Bryan down, Bryan locks on a Dragon sleeper again. Mark Henry drops to one knee and appears to be fading, but he gets back to his feet and throws Daniel Bryan off.

Henry looks enraged and beats Bryan down in the corner, knocking him down with punches and headbutts. Henry props Bryan up in the corner and then hits him with a big running splash. Henry does it again and the ref tells him that's enough as Bryan looks hurt. Henry hits Bryan with a third big splash and Bryan drops to the mat barely conscious.

Big Show enters the ring and knocks Henry out with a big right hand, causing Bryan to lose by disqualification. Big Show grabs the still groggy Bryan and rolls him into the ring with his Money in the Bank Briefcase, telling him to cash it in now. Show says Henry is out and Bryan can win the title from Henry RIGHT NOW if he just cashes in the contract.

Bryan looks confused, but does go after Mark Henry. Unfortunately for Bryan, Henry has already started to regain consciousness and hits Bryan with the World's Strongest Slam. Then Henry grabs Bryan's briefcase and clocks the Big Show with it, and then picks the Big Show up and hits him with the World's Strongest Slam.

Mark Henry then falls to the mat himself and rolls out to the floor, still appearing very woozy. All three men appear dazed as Teddy Long comes out to the entrance ramp. Teddy Long announces that at Survivor Series, the Big Show will get his rematch with Mark Henry for the heavyweight title. As SmackDown comes to a close, the semi-conscious Big Show smiles and the very groggy Mark Henry looks mad.
