Reported by Ernest I Aguilar The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Toronto Ontario Canada, (my home town!), and it's Edge appreciation night! The show begins with Edge coming to the ring to tell us how great it feels to be back in a WWE ring, and how much he missed all of us. Edge is interrupted by Cody Rhodes. Cody tells Edge that he thinks Edge is pandering to the fans because he's just like them. Edge says Cody should stop bitching and moaning and blaming other people for his injuries and look at himself in the mirror, disfigured though he is. Cody tells Edge that he thinks Edge sounds bitter, which is funny, because the last time Cody saw Edge, Edge was the triumphant world champion at WrestleMania. Edge's career is now over. Cody is IC champ, he taught Ted DiBiase a lesson, and he defeated World Champ Randy Orton last week, so Cody claim that now he is the triumphant one. Cody hands Edge a bag and tells him he knows he won't put it on his head, so he wants him to take it home and place it on his mantle as a constant reminder of Cody Rhodes, the new face of Smackdown. Edge takes the bag and says, "If you are the new face of Smackdown, then this show needs this bag more than I do." Then Edge walks out, claiming Cody is boring him to sleep. Cody is furious and screams for them to turn off Edge's music and for Edge to get back in the ring. Cody storms around the ring berating the fans and telling them to put bags over their heads. One of the fans wearing a bag punches Cody in the face. The fan removes the bag and we see Ted DiBiase rolling Cody into the ring. Ted beats on Cody for a minute before hitting him with his finishing move; Dream Street. Ted goes out to the floor to take a bag from one of Cody's assistants and then re-enters the ring to put it on Cody. Before Ted can put it on, Cody runs away. Commercial Match #1: Sin Cara versus Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan requested this math after Sin Cara hit him with a cheap shot after a recent match between them. The match starts with Daniel Bryan hitting Sin Cara with a running knee. Bryan lands several strikes, mounts and pounds Sin Cara, hits him with a European uppercut, and then steps on his head. After an Irish whip, Bryan knocks Sin Cara to the floor. Sin Cara gets back to his feet and dropkicks Bryan in the legs. Sin Cara stomps on Bryan and then hits him with a shin buster. Sin Cara continues to focus on the leg and lands several kicks to Bryan's legs. Sin Cara tips Bryan over the top rope and sends him sprawling to the floor clutching his leg. Commercial When we return, Sin Cara has Daniel Bryan in an Indian death lock. Daniel Bryan escapes and lands a series of elbows, followed by a kick to the head. Sin Cara slams Bryan's face to the turnbuckle and then hits him with a flying headbutt. Sin Cara tries to put on a figure four leg lock but Bryan pushes him off. Sin Cara tries a moonsault but Bryan gets his feet up. Bryan lands a series of strikes that ends with a big kick to the head. Bryan whips Sin Cara to the corner and lands some more kicks. Both men go to the top turnbuckle and Sin Cara drops Bryan down crotch first onto the turnbuckle. Bryan hangs upside down in the corner in pain as Sin Cara lands several kicks to the head. Sin Cara continues kicking Bryan in the head even after the ref calls for a break after a 5 count. The ref DQ's Sin Cara and the unconscious Daniel Bryan wins the match. After the match, Sin Cara's music hits unexpectedly and ANOTHER Sin Cara comes out. Those of you that have been reading the newsletter regularly will know there have been 2 Sin Cara's, one named Luis Urive who is the original, and Jorge Arias, who has been filling in when the original Sin Cara was out due to injury or suspension. The two men face off and circle each other until one of them finally walks away. The one that walked away must be the evil Sin Cara; good guys are never cowardly in wrestling. Commercial When we return, Teddy Long and Zach Ryder are in the back talking about the "Cutting Edge" show later tonight featuring Mark Henry and Randy Orton. Teddy tells Zach that he is once again instituting a no-contact rule for Orton and Henry, and he wants Zach to tell them. The last time Teddy had Zach tell Mark Henry that Teddy had put a no-contact rule in effect Mark Henry beat the hell out of Ryder. That's probably why Zach looks sad. Teddy is interrupted by Aksana, who offers to give Teddy a massage. Teddy allows it and Aksana starts rubbing his shoulders. Eventually, Teddy bends forward with Aksana behind him, hands on his shoulders and rubbing his back while her hips press up against his ass. It looks like they are 'doing it doggy style' and just in case no one gets it, Aksana says "Teddy you are so tight." They're pushing the PG rating a little bit here. Trish Stratus shows up unexpectedly as Aksana is moving steadily closer to a happy ending. Teddy says it's not what it looks like, and Trish replies, "oh of course, it never is." Teddy tells her he isn't really tight. Trish says she'll see him out there later tonight. Match #2: Beth Phoenix (with Natalya) versus AJ (with Kaitlyn). The two Divas lock up and Beth pushes AJ to the corner. AJ lands a kick and tries a wheelbarrow, but Beth turns it into a suplex. Beth then military presses AJ and slams her. AJ tries to turn things around with a few strikes, but she just gets flattened by Beth and then beaten with the "Glam Slam." Commercial When we return, we see a video package highlighting the career of new baby face Sheamus. Apparently, according to Sheamus, the luck of the Irish means he has a 24 karat gold horseshoe up his arse. That sounds like BAD luck to me; can you imagine the pain? In the back, Toronto natives Edge and Trish Stratus are trying out some of Trish's Yoga gloves. They are interrupted by Christian, who berates Trish for only showing up when she has something to sell. Apparently her Yoga gloves are for sale. Christian is nice to Edge though, and says he's not mad that Edge called him a whiny bitch recently. Christian understands that Edge was just speaking his mind and that's what friends do. Then Christian begs Edge to talk to Teddy Long and tell him that Christian deserves just ONE MORE TITLE SHOT! Edge says he didn't want to say it the first time and he doesn't want to say it now, but he says Christian sounds like a whiny little bitch. Christian cuts him off and angrily whines like a little bitch. He's good at it though; I enjoy watching Christian whine almost as much as I used to enjoy watching Edge whine all those years that he was a heel. Just then Zach Ryder runs in and tells Edge that Teddy has put in a no-contact rule for Orton and Mark Henry tonight when they are guests on the Cutting Edge and that he wants Edge to tell them. Zach then runs away. Trish watches him leaves and says "isn't that the internet wrestling champion?" Zach has been making a lot of popular YouTube videos lately, and in them he is the internet wrestling champ. Commercial Match #3: Wade Barrett and Christian versus Sheamus and Justin Gabriel. Before the match, Sheamus says that instead of an "Axe or Smasher, I got a 450 splasher!" for his tag team partner referencing the classic tag team "Demolition" and Justin Gabriel's finishing move: the 450 splash. Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel start things off and Wade quickly drops Gabriel. Barrett goes for an elbow drop but Gabriel rolls out of the way. Gabriel trips Barrett up with a leg sweep. Barrett tries an arm drag but Gabriel gets out of it and sweeps the leg again. Barrett gets to his feet and knocks Gabriel down with a big right hand and then follows up with a side slam. Barrett tags in Christian and Christian stomps and pummels Gabriel on the mat. Christian tries for a suplex but Gabriel slips out and rolls Christian up for a two count. Christian hits Gabriel with a clothesline and tags in Barrett. Barrett lands several kicks and then goes for a suplex. Gabriel slips out of the suplex and tries for another roll up. Wade knocks Gabriel to the mat and puts on a chin lock. Justin fights his way out but Wade slams him to the mat and then tags in Christian. Christian presses Gabriel down into the ropes but Gabriel escapes. Gabriel baseball slides under Christian and then hits him with several kicks. Christian whips Gabriel hard into the corner. Commercial When we return, Barrett is kicking Gabriel in the back of the head and then follows up with a backbreaker. Barrett beats on Gabriel some more and then tags in Christian. Christian lands a kick, but Gabriel responds with an STO (Space Tornado Ogawa, also known as a clothesline leg sweep) and then tags in Sheamus. Christian tags in Barrett and Sheamus clotheslines him. Wade lands a boot to the face but Sheamus seems unfazed and hits Barrett with a front slam. Sheamus hits Barrett with a knee lift and then goes to the top rope. Wade goes after Sheamus and lands a punch as both men struggle for position on the top turnbuckle. Sheamus pushes Wade off and then hits him with a flying shoulder block. Wade fights back and tries to take Sheamus out with "Wasteland" but Sheamus escapes and hits Wade with a Brogue kick. Sheamus tags in Gabriel and Gabriel hits Barrett with the 450 splash for the win. Commercial Match #4: Heath Slater versus the Great Khali. Not much of a match. Slater starts off fast with several strikes but is quickly flattened by Khali with clotheslines and chops. Jinder Mahal comes out to yell at Khali angrily in Hindi and Khali yells back at him. Slater hits Khali from behind, and then Jinder attacks Khali from behind. The double team results in Slater being DQ'd, but I don't think anyone noticed. Khali beats up Slater and Jinder, knocking Jinder out of the ring and hitting Slater with a Big Chop and the Punjabi Plunge (2 handed choke slam) as Jinder flees. Commercial Match #5: Evan Bourne with partner Kofi Kingston versus R Truth with his partner the Miz. The Miz and R Truth come out to a new version of Truth's entrance rap "What's up?" The new version has Miz and Truth rapping "You Suck" to the WWE Universe. The match starts off fast with Truth and Bourne exchanging strikes. Truth hits a boot to the face that knocks Bourne to the floor. Truth rolls Bourne back into the ring and puts on a head lock. Evan escapes with an elbow strike but Truth hits him with a punch and then tries a vertical suplex. Evan blocks the suplex with several knee strikes to the head while Truth had Bourne up in the air for the suplex attempt. Bourne lands a few kicks and then a hurricanrana to a kneeling R Truth. Bourne goes for the Shooting Star press but Truth dodges it. Truth hits Bourne with a leaping reverse STO for the win. Commercial When we return it's time for Edge's "Cutting Edge" interview with Randy Orton and Mark Henry. Edge's first question is for Orton: Edge wants to know if he really thinks he can beat Mark Henry, considering the roll Henry has been on lately. Orton admits that while Henry has been demolishing people lately, the only time Henry puts his hands on Orton is after Orton has already had a match. Orton says that Henry has shown him nothing, and then continues by saying that the reason Henry has never won a World title is because his best isn't good enough. Edge says Orton has a point: Henry's career has been a disappointment. Henry has been in the WWE even longer than Edge, yet he's never won a World Championship. Henry says the only reason Edge is going to be able to leave the ring on his own power is because he's right. Henry admits his career has been disappointing, but it's been that way because the WWE kept telling him to smile more, let he personality show. Henry says he's done smiling and is now here to destroy. Orton replies that after 15 years, Mark Henry is the World's Strongest Failure. Henry drops the mic and both men look tense. Edge reminds them that there is a no-contact rule in effect for this edition of the Cutting Edge. Edge then tells them that he wants them to know the Cutting Edge is officially OVER, and he steps out of the ring inviting them to fight. Teddy Long orders everyone in the locker room to go and break up the fight and they do at first. Eventually Mark Henry breaks free and attacks Orton before they are separated again. Orton breaks free and charges Henry, but Henry catches him. Henry then flattens Orton with the World's Strongest Slam, and then beats up everyone. Henry takes out the entire locker room by himself and then flattens Orton with a second World's Strongest Slam. We can hear Teddy Long yelling "Mark that's enough" but Henry doesn't seem to hear. Henry picks up Orton's title and drapes it over his unconscious body as SmackDown comes to a close. |
