Smackdown TV Report 2/11/11

Reported by Ernest I Aguilar

The Smack is being laid Down for us tonight in Green Bay Wisconsin. The show begins with a recap of Vickie Guerrero firing Kelly Kelly for not costing Edge his title last week.

The first person to the ring is Alberto Del Rio, and he has the ring decorated especially for Valentine's Day. Alberto wants us to know that he is not only a great athlete and a Royal Rumble winner (pronounced 'weiner') but also a lover of many things. He loves his cars, he loves Mexico, and most of all, he loves Destiny, because Destiny loves him. He says that unlike Green Bay QB Aaron Rogers (who I am forever indebted to for beating the evil Pittsburgh Steelers) Alberto doesn't have to pretend to be a WWE champion, because at WrestleMania, he will become one.

Kofi Kingston comes out to tell Alberto to stop talking about destiny, because he doesn't know the future. But Kofi does remember the past, like when Alberto beat him with a kendo stick last week. Kofi then pulls a kendo stick out and confronts Alberto. Alberto cowers in fear and seems to be actually praying for his life but Kofi hesitates. Kofi looks like he is going to show mercy, but then he winks, and beats Alberto with the Kendo stick, then destroys his Valentine's Day set. Michael Cole is horrified.

Match #1: Kofi Kingston versus Alberto Del Rio.

Alberto gets a quick take down and pounds Kofi on the mat. Alberto lands a series of strikes until Kofi is able to knock Alberto down after an Irish Whip. Kofi then lands a series of strikes of his own. Kofi goes for what looks like an ole ole kick to me, but it misses. Alberto responds with a kick that connects and follows up with a backbreaker and a chin lock.

Kofi fights his way out of the chin lock and lands several kicks before setting up and hitting the Boom Drop. Kofi then hits Alberto with a pendulum kick and a flying cross body. Alberto tries to get Kofi up on his shoulders, but Kofi slides out and hits Alberto with a ranhei. Kofi then sets up for the Trouble In Paradise but misses.

Alberto goes out to the floor and Kofi pursues. Alberto slams Kofi's arm into the steel steps then rolls him into the ring, where he applies the cross arm breaker. Kofi taps out and Alberto wins.

Todd Grisham asks Edge if he thinks Vickie Guerrero will be fair calling his match tonight against her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler. Edge responds of course she will call it right down the middle, and then Vickie, Dolph, and Edge will all have dinner together...when pigs fly; and Vickie Guerrero on a plane doesn't count. So if Vickie is going to favor Edge, how can he win? He says he has no idea, and looks worried.

Match Kozlov with Santino versus Justin Gabriel with the Corre. Kozlov gets the first take down and works over Gabriel in the corner. Gabriel gets to the top rope and flies off, but Kozlov catches him and slams him down onto the top turnbuckle, where he then punts him in the stomach. Gabriel gets out of the corner and lands several athletic kicks, then mounts and pounds Kozlov.

The two men exchange strikes with Kozlov eventually getting the edge with headbutts. The ref is distracted by Ezekiel Jackson and Heath Slater trips Kozlov. Santino hits Slater with the cobra, but is then knocked out by Justin Gabriel who hits him with a flying kick through the ropes. Kozlov then tries to land a splash on Gabriel, but Gabriel counters it.

Gabriel then goes to the top rope and hits Kozlov with the 450 splash for the win. After the match, Wade Barrett gives Kozlov the Wasteland, and Ezekiel Jackson hits Santino with a Book end.

When we return, we see another video about a mysterious man in black that will be arriving on February 21 this year.

Match: Chris Masters versus Drew McIntyre.

Before the match, Drew grabs a mic and says that he blames Edge for Kelly getting fired last week. He then dedicates his match that night to Kelly. Masters totally dominates the opening minutes, landing several strikes a clothesline and a modified powerbomb.

Drew attempts to get Masters over with a backslide, but Masters powers out of it and eventually flips Drew over. Drew lands directly in front of Masters in the perfect position to hit the Future Shock DDT, and he does, for the win. After the match, Drew walks back smiling.

When we return, Todd Grisham wants to know if he has anything to say to Cody Rhodes. Rey laughs and asks if Todd is serious. After all, it was just a broken nose, Rey didn't do it on purpose, and people get worse injuries than that all the time. The Rey very sarcastically wishes Cody well during this difficult time. He then says his real focus is on his match tonight with Wade Barrett. Michael Cole is horrified that Rey is so unconcerned with the damage he has done to such a beautiful face.

Wade tells us that while everyone in the Corre is equal, he will be competing in the Elimination Chamber match, and he will win it and go on to WrestleMania.

Match: Rey Mysterio versus Wade Barrett.

Wade gets the early advantage with several strikes until Rey ducks a Barrett kick with a baseball slide. Rey then lands several kicks until he is clothslined by Wade. Rey then trips Wade into the corner and hits him with a low dropkick to the face. Rey then goes to the top but is tripped up by Barrett. Rey is hanging upside down in the corner and Barrett is pummeling him there.

Wade chokes Rey on the ropes for a while and then hits him with a suplex. Wade then focuses on Rey's back, grinding his knee and elbow into him. Rey tries to turn things around by rolling through a suplex attempt and landing a couple kicks. Wade charges Rey and Rey drops to the mat, pulling the top rope down and sending Wade flying to the floor.

Rey goes to the ring apron and leaps off, hitting Wade with a flying Thesz press on the floor, a move that was called the "Air Canada" when it was one of Trish Stratus' signature moves. Wade recovers and slams Rey back first onto the security barrier.

When we return, Wade is stretching out the arms of Rey on the mat. Rey escapes and hits a springboard cross body. Rey lands a boot to the face and goes to the top rope again, but Wade catches him as he flies off, then puts him right back on the top turnbuckle and punches him. Rey fights back with a punch and a headbutt that knocks Wade back.

Rey then drops Barrett with a seated senton, and follows that up with a hurricanrana. Wade fights back but Rey lands a couple more kicks. Wade is able to pick Rey up for a side slam and gets a near fall. Rey spots Justin Gabriel coming in to interfere and drop kicks him. Wade takes advantage of the distraction and flattens Rey with a big boot, and follows that up with the Wasteland for the win.

After the match, the Corre comes to the ring and administers a beating to Rey. The Big Show comes out to save Rey and fights of the entire Corre by himself for a while. Eventually though the wear him down, and Ezekiel Jackson picks him up and takes him down with a vertical suplex.

Match: JTG versus Kane.

JTG starts off with an uppercut and follows up with an elbow in the corner. That would be the end of any meaningful offense from JTG. Kane lands several strikes, a side slam, and a top rope clothesline before taking JTG out with the choke slam.

When we return there is a lengthy video hyping the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View. In the back, Team LayCool is complaining about their loss last week. Michelle claims that if the ref was competent, he would have counted her pin and she would be champion. Layla interrupts and says "don't you mean WE would be champs" and Michelle very insincerely says yeah.

Vickie and Dolph angrily confront LayCool: they blame them for losing to Kelly Kelly, costing Dolph Ziggler his chance to be champion. Dolph angrily calls Layla a loser. Layla asks why Michelle didn't defend her.

Commercial

Match: Eve, the Divas champion versus Layla.

As the match gets underway, Layla slides out to the floor to make sure Michelle will support her. Layla seems unusually needy this match. Eve comes out after Layla and slams her into the announce table. When they get back to the ring, Layla gets the advantage, mounting Eve and slamming her head to the mat.

Layla drapes Eve over the ropes and steps on her as Michelle taunts her. Layla lands a dropkick and then follows up with a chin lock while pinning Eve's left arm back. Eve gets out with a kick and a fireman's carry takeover and follows up with kicks and a clothesline.

Eve hits Layla with a standing moonsault and goes for a cover and gets 2. Eve hits a side leg sweep and climbs to the top rope. Michelle pulls on the ropes to get Eve off. Layla tries to roll Eve up but only gets a 1 count. Eve reverses and gets three for the win. Michelle and Layla both look disappointed.

Match: Edge versus Dolph Ziggler for the title, Vickie Guerrero guest referee.

Vickie reminds us that the spear is banned, and if Edge uses the spear, he will be disqualified and Dolph will be made champion. Dolph starts things off with a kick to the knee and a quick pin attempt. Vickie counts incredibly fast but Edge still kicks out. Edge backs Dolph into the corner and Vickie immediately backs Edge up and forces a clean break.

Dolph pushes Edge to the corner and beats him down and Vickie allows it. Edge seems hurt and Dolph slowly, methodically hits Edge with a punch, a kick, and a neckbreaker. Dolph applies the sleeper hold, but Edge prevents him from locking it on tight and then hits Dolph with a sit out rear mat slam.

Dolph responds with a spinning heel kick and both men go down. The action goes back and forth for a while, until Edge takes over with a forearm, a clothesline, and half nelson bulldog. Dolph retaliates with a chin breaker, but Edge quickly comes back with a kick and a DDT.

Vickie counts to two, then puts Dolph's foot on the bottom rope and laughs. Dolph hits Edge with a leg drop bulldog, Edge responds with a flying forearm and both men go down. Vickie looks like she is setting Edge up for a spear. She's in the corner with the crazy eyes, motioning for him to get up, crouching in a tense pose, ready to strike, and then she strikes!

Vickie charges Edge as he gets back to his feet and hits him in the waist. Unfortunately for Vickie, she really isn't fat so she just bounces off a confused, and unharmed, Edge. Vickie appears to have hurt her ankle when she landed, and she rolls out of the ring so the Doctor can check on her. While Vickie isn't looking, Edge spears Dolph!

There is still no ref to make the count though, so the match continues. Vickie is now looking into the ring to see what is going on, and Edge spears Dolph a second time, and this time Vickie sees it and starts screaming. Just then Clay Matthews, a linebacker for the Super bowl champions the Green Bay Packers comes out wearing a referee's shirt.

The Green Bay crowd cheers their football hero as he comes to the ring and counts the pin fall for Edge, and Edge is announced as winner and still World Champion. Vickie is outraged and seems to be telling the people around her to reverse the decision while Edge celebrates with the title. As Smackdown goes off the air, it's not clear who the champion is.
